Pecorino Experience. A press tour ‘far from the flock’
Five journalists, five food bloggers, five classic cars and a territory to discover, searching for the secrets of Pecorino Toscano PDO. These are the ingredients of Pecorino Experience, the press tour organized by the Consortium of Protection and Promotion of Pecorino Toscano PDO between Siena, Firenze, Pisa and the Maremma. For three days, between June 9-11, the most evocative and least-known roads of Tuscany will be explored by 5 teams, composed of Italian and international journalists and bloggers, on board classic Fiat 500 cars.
The mission? To discover the secrets of one of the best delicacies of this territory: Pecorino Toscano PDO. Tour participants will travel along back roads and trails, far from the usual tourist destinations, paying visits to farms and dairies of the Consortium, but also to artistic treasures rarely visited by tourists and surrounded by breathtaking landscapes.
A ‘top secret’ tour. The participants in the ‘Pecorino Experience’ will only learn their destination upon arrival in Siena, when each team will be given a map of the tour beginning from this famous city of the Palio and continuing on different themed routes to different locales:
Pecorino Toscano & art, Pecorino Toscano & pilgrims, Pecorino Toscano & Spa, Pecorino Toscano & stones and Pecorino Toscano & landscape.
These are the five itineraries that will be assigned to our five pairs of journalists and bloggers and that stretch from the Maremma coast to the Orcia Valley, from medieval settlements to remote hinterlands, from the hills of Pisa to hamlets near Florence. Tuscany will thus be explored bit by bit on the hunt for stories and news about Pecorino Toscano PDO and its producers.
The flavors, the cooking school and the Picnic PDO & IGP. Every itinerary will include encounters with the men and women who produce Pecorino and visits to the places where our cheese has taken shape for centuries. There will be moments of conviviality and explanation, meetings with the other groups and long stretches in solitude. There will be opportunities to learn to cook and try the recipes shared by the Chef Lella Cesari Ciampoli. The Pecorino Experience will conclude with a Picnic featuring PDO and IGT producers. It will be a tour ‘far from the flock’, a one-of-a-kind experience in which the journey becomes the key to discover the most authentic Tuscany, through one of its best products: Pecorino Toscano PDO.
