Studying Pecorino

For Schools

Since the very beginning, we’ve wanted to come back to the classroom to teach Pecorino Toscano’s history and explain what it means and why it is so important to be a Protected Designation of Origin cheese. We try to maintain an open dialogue with students by offering them the opportunity to have contact with the experience of producing Pecorino Toscano PDO, such as through guided visits to cheesemaking factories or to the sheep herds. To try to make learning about our cheese as exciting and creative as possible, we’ve organized culinary contests and events in collaboration with schools, especially tourism high schools. But studying Pecorino Toscano PDO offers many in-depth insights, touching on themes and very different materials. Even so, in the future, we would like to further strengthen our presence in schools, stimulating, from the earliest school years, interest in a unique, one-of-a-kind product, such as Pecorino Toscano PDO.
